For years I’ve warned that the post-Brexit strategy of allowing domestic food production to decline while assuming we can simply buy what we need on world markets is reckless. With extreme weather devastating harvests here and overseas, and wars disrupting global supply chains, that gamble is unravelling. I didn’t expect to be proved right quite so soon.
