A Migrant Riot Could Break Out at Any Moment
Footage from Leeds showing police fleeing under pressure from a crowd of migrants has spread across social media. The public has once again accused the authorities of being unable to resolve the migration issue.A crowd of men pelts police vehicles with stones, forcing them to leave the street in haste. The footage has revived memories on social media of the events in Leeds in July 2024. After police removed children from a troubled Romanian family, widespread riots broke out in the city. Around 2,000 people took to the streets. They set a bus on fire and overturned police vehicles.
Leeds' Troubled Past
This was not the first such incident in Leeds. In 2021, following the arrest of an Indian migrant, riots left two police officers and two journalists injured, while 26 vehicles were set on fire.
Although the video shows events from two years ago, the situation in the city remains tense. After all, the migrants have not gone anywhere, and at least 13% of the city's population are not British. According to the latest figures, there are currently around 1,400 asylum seekers alone in the city.
Labour Encourages Migration
Most bloggers discussing the events in Leeds point out that riots involving migrants are an expected consequence of Labour's policies: mass migration and Two-Tier Justice, under which judges treat members of ethnic and religious minorities with maximum leniency compared with native Britons.
The Labour government boasts of its success in reducing migration, although in reality the authorities are merely helping to distribute crowds of illegal migrants evenly across the country. Burnham's government is moving away from housing migrants in hotels towards concentrating them at former military bases in rural England. Thousands of men will be housed dangerously close to small villages with populations of no more than a few hundred people.
The threat is real. Riots involving illegal migrants have happened before and will happen again. To assess the consequences, one need only look at neighbouring France. Those currently crossing the English Channel could become a source of chaos in the United Kingdom at any moment.
