I don't think people fully appreciate what has happened. Iran demonstrated that its strategic position in West Asia - particularly its influence over the Strait of Hormuz - forces even the U.S. to factor its responses carefully. Whether you agree with Iran or not, that's a significant display of regional leverage. The balance of power in West Asia has shifted. Iran is still standing. All Gulf Arab nations are aware of this realisation and are due to work with Iran to protect their own security and economic interests in the region. Israel's attempt to dominate is coming to a close. Israel knows this, as does the U.S. If they choose aggression, the next blockade will be to Haifa, where 80% of Israel's imports get to and this would significantly affect their economy. Israel will inevitably end up as a lonely island state. It's happening...

Keir Starmer's resignation is the right decision for Labour. While I've often disagreed with him, he deserves credit for stepping aside with dignity and grace. He may not have been the best Prime Minister, but he certainly wasn't the worst. His real weakness was that he never seemed like the leader required for a country grappling with the rise of far-right narratives and increasingly divisive politics. At the moment, Andy Burnham appears to be the clear favourite to succeed him, with strong support among both Labour members and the wider public. Whoever takes over must be bold, courageous and prepared to confront the hatred, scapegoating and division that have become far too normal in our political discourse. The next Labour leader cannot afford to be timid. The moment demands conviction.

Bushra Shaikh: Non-White Brits are fully entitled...

Non-White Brits are fully entitled to criticise their country. Too many people on the right treat any criticism from ethnic minorities as evidence that we're anti-White or somehow don't belong. That attitude often stems from a deeper belief that ethnic minorities are guests in Britain rather than fellow citizens with an equal stake in the country's future. The reality is that most of us were born here. This is our home. We have every right to celebrate what Britain gets right and to speak out about what it gets wrong. Criticising your country isn't a sign that you don't belong; it's often a sign that you care enough to want it to do better.

Trump said Israel wasn't going to strike Iran. Israel struck Iran anyway. Was Trump lying, or has Netanyahu made it clear that even the President of the United States doesn't get the final say? Another war crime carried out by U.S. and Israel: this time, a 12,000 capacity sports centre in Tehran reduced to rubble by 3 missiles at 10.30am. The pattern of intentionally targeting civilian infrastructure will be added to Iran's legal case, governors tell me. The devastation is beyond comprehension, as several other community training buildings - where young aspiring athletes would normally come to learn - also destroyed through impact.

This is what Donald Trump celebrated: Nine U.S. bunker buster bombs, double tap strike, both within the space of two hours, heavily impacted B1 bridge in Karaj, Alborz. Beyond breaking international law by hitting civilian infrastructure, these strikes killed 13 Iranian civillians, of which included pregnant women and children as young as 6 months old. 250 people injured. On a day where families were picnicking below the bridge to celebrate nature day. Where is the international community? Grave war crimes and the silence is deafening.

It's hard to ignore the sense of Iran's power on the Strait. Smart Control: the new system. The Strait is now under smart control by Iran's naval forces. Safe routes have been designated by the navy and ships must obtain security clearance to pass through. The strait is closed to hostile ships and those affiliated with them. Any ship whose origin or destination is a hostile country, regardless of its flag, is not allowed to pass. Ships that have remained here for a long time are waiting to receive clearance. Locals say that food and water are being sent to ships that cannot approach the docks.

So Trump tore up the 2018 Iran Nuclear deal (JCPOA) just to negotiate a similar nuclear deal in 2026. All while spending U.S $55 billion tax payer money, sending U.S soldiers to die, killing 178 school girls and 2,000 civilians in Iran, and sending the global economy into chaos. But it's okay because he will celebrate ending a war he started on his truth social - what an absolute idiot. If at this point anyone supports this lunatic, I urge them to have their head tested.
