I hope that people can join these dots. 1) Diesel is now so expensive organised gangs steal it. 2) It is so expensive because of the illegal bombing of Iran - inc being conducted directly from USAF Fairford.David Kurten: Diesel price at record high...
Diesel price at record high. This is a direct result of climate alarmists pushing net zero and war pigs pushing war. The uni-party needs to be gone.Ben Judah: The governments is a in a punishing...
The governments is a in a punishing position on cost of living. It both needs to do as much as it can to show its trying to address the problem but recognise trying to run off this at the next election or use it to generate political support is a fools errand in as energy prices rise — something over which we have little control.Aaron Bastani: The Liberal Democrats want...
The Liberal Democrats want a tax free personal allowance of £15,000. Stupid, unserious policy. We need to expand the tax base, not shrink it. In which case: expect it to become very popular, and adopted by all the major parties and the media class.Triple Blow to Households
Electricity bills could rise by 25% from January, costing a typical household more than £2,000 a year. Economists’ alarming forecasts have sparked a strong public reaction.Andrew Bridgen: The Government never stop threatening...
The Government never stop threatening you with fines and taking ever more control over every aspect of your life. Especially how you might heat your home this Winter.
Jackie Walker: I get the questions around...
I get the questions around the triple lock but British pensions are appallingly bad and we should be focusing on rebalancing the whole tax system starting with the billionairesAdam Brooks: Energy prices for homes are capped…
Energy prices for homes are capped… they are not for businesses. This winter is going to wipe out so many. There’s talk of 10-11p pkwh That’s going to double bills those that have contracts expiring soon… Unsustainable for many.Lee Hurst: What could cut the energy...
What could cut the energy bills even further for the long term unemployed would be if they left their homes during the day and got a job.Adam Brooks: 100000 people in Britain...
100000 people in Britain get benefits for ADHD… That is the reason our benefits system will collapse under the strain. This is not what the benefits system was designed for. If we removed this madness, then the genuinely needy would rightfully get MORE. I speak as the father of a ADHD child.Patrick Christys: Kemi Badenoch is absolutely...
Kemi Badenoch is absolutely spot on here - nobody has a human right to live in a really nice area at the expense of other taxpayers who cannot afford to live in those nice areas.Andrew Bridgen: Shoppers face year of food...
Shoppers face year of food price pain Everything playing out as the ‘Epstein class elites’ planned for us. Food prices up , energy prices up and our Government will put taxes up too.Alex Wickham: Exclusive: UK-specific investor concerns...
Exclusive: UK-specific investor concerns about Andy Burnham and John Healey’s fiscal plans are amplifying the impact of the global bond selloff on gilts, according to analysis by Bloomberg @economics Our economists say that while some of the recent hit to gilts is attributable to global moves likely due to expectations of Fed tightening, and much is due to the impacts of the Iran war on inflation, the UK situation is being made worse by rising risk perception likely due to anxiety over the coming budget It means UK borrowing costs are rising relative to peers because investors remain unconvinced by Burnham and Healey’s plans, according to their analysis In other words, rising UK borrowing costs can’t just be blamed on the global selloffLee Hurst: Britain spends £177 billion...
Britain spends £177 billion on welfare (this excludes those on the state pension). The take home pay for someone on minimum wage is £20,800 per year. If we divide the £177 Bn by the minimum wage it comes to 8,509,615 people. Eight and a half million people getting an average of £20,800 without leaving their sofas and doing nothing. Someone justify this to me and tell me this is morally acceptable. Obvs many people will be getting far more than £20,800 and some much less, but the point remains. Explain to a person on minimum wage why they should turn up for work and take home less money than 8.5 million other idle people after deducting travel expenses.
Not a Business Rescue, but a Political Manoeuvre
The Prime Minister announced tax cuts aimed at saving High Streets. However, representatives of business and the public have criticised these plans and accused the head of government of populism.A Finance Minister Without Principles
Former Defence Secretary John Healey changed his position on funding military spending after taking charge of the Treasury. Social media users say that yet another Labour politician has put his career ahead of the interests of ordinary citizens.Andrew Bridgen: Burnham urged to tax wealthy...
Burnham urged to tax wealthy pensioners to bail out Britain ! It’s always just one more tax rise for the Government. It’s like putting the taps on in the bath with the plug out. Burnham will claim he is taxing us to prosperityThe debts of today’s politicians will be paid by our children
The government reported an unexpected budget deficit in July, despite an increase in tax revenues. The consequences for ordinary citizens are being actively discussed on social media.Adam Brooks: The mansion tax starts...
The mansion tax starts on houses over 2 million pounds in 2028… it will without doubt be lowered over time. Next £1.5 million, then a million, then £500k and lastly it just becomes a house tax. Thats Labour 🥀Daniel Lacalle: Raising taxes is never a tool...
Raising taxes is never a tool for budget control. Only a tool to control society. Because interventionism always spends more. The UK public accounts are a disaster. UK borrowing for July was £1.8 billion, 68.7% more than the same time last year and £2.3 billion above the OBR’s forecast.Adam Brooks: No one voted to give countries...
No one voted to give countries like Pakistan more of our taxpayers money… no one. They have nuclear weapons and a space programme. They refuse to take back their criminals. FILTHDale Vince: Energy bills are probably the main...
Energy bills are probably the main driver of the cost of living crisis (which Labour inherited), they also drive inflation and bank lending rates - doing great harm to our economy as a whole. At the peak of the last energy crisis we paid £43Billion more in one year than we needed to, inflation was 1.5 points higher than need be and Bank lending rates 1 point higher. We need to make Britain’s energy market work for Britain. For all of us, people, businesses and the whole economy. It doesn't have to be this way. Energy market reform in three steps.......
Daniel Lacalle: Government spending has only increased...
Government spending has only increased in the past two decades. Taxes have soared in the past two decades. Government intervention is the norm of the past two decades. And you are worse off than your parents. Yet you believe the solution is more government and more intervention.Chris Williamson: @reformparty_uk says it would...
. @reformparty_uk says it would cut £50bn from the social budget, which would further impoverish Britain's poorest people. But Labour and the Tories also want to cut social security payments as well. This race to the bottom is nothing short of despicable conscious cruelty. What's needed is a big increase in social security payments to eliminate poverty and deprivation in Britain, which is the world's fifth biggest economy. We also desperately need a huge fiscal stimulus to expand the public sector to create new well-paid jobs, and renationalise the utilities to stop them ripping off the public with inflated bills. Corporate spivs are using the privatisation of public services as a cash cow, which is why the private sector should be cleared out of our public services altogether to ensure that public services return to serving the public rather than corporate greed.David Kurten: Reform's welfare plans...
Reform's welfare plans will hammer businesses with a new extra payroll tax, making them pay Unemployment Insurance on top of Employers' National Insurance. This is bad policy that will again fall apart and be quietly abandoned. The Holiday Turned Out to Be More Important Than the Problems
The new resident of 10 Downing Street went on holiday literally two weeks after taking office. This triggered a strong public reaction, with many people openly writing that he “doesn’t care about the people of this country”.Taxpayers Get No Relief
Unemployed parents of children who choose to begin vocational training will receive up to £4,500 a year. That is the good news. Now for the bad news: they stand to lose up to £330 a week in welfare payments. The public has drawn attention to this obvious contradiction in the government's plans to encourage youth employment.Lee Hurst: Labour kills another 600 jobs...
Labour kills another 600 jobs. Don’t worry though, remaining taxpayers will soon be hit with more taxes to pay for more public sector non jobs, paying 3 times as much plus huge pensions to offset this.David Kurten: The UK has a net national debt...
The UK has a net national debt of £2,984,000,000,000 that is growing by £130,000,000,000 per year. This needs to be dealt with, not exacerbated with extra unnecessary spending.
