If Nigel Farage wins the by election he has forced, nothing changes with the current situation. The investigations then continues. If found guilty of wrongdoing then a 10 day suspension from the HoC could follow. This is enough to trigger a recall petition. If 10% of the electorate in Clacton we have another by election at which Farage could stand. So again I ask the question, what was the actual point of all this? The people who like him will continue to support him and the people who don’t will continue not to. No one’s mind will be changed by this current by election. He also faces the prospect of losing as anything could happen. By Reform offering to pay for the by election it stops the money being used to campaign elsewhere. What is the upside for Reform? I see none whatsoever.
